![]() Ah, the pursuit of eternal youth. Nutrition, fitness and facials are all avenues we explore in our society to pursue eternal youth. We have all heard that ‘eating clean’, working out (cardio and strength training) and consistent skincare, to maintain volume and firmness, are ways in which we can maintain our youthful look. As we age we lose volume (fat) in the face causing the skin to sag. To counteract this downward droop we strive to “lift” the skin by increasing Collagen production. One way to increase collagen production is to intentionally cause a micro-injury so the skin heals back tighter. In professional skincare there are several trending therapies to inspire collagen production. Today we are going to explore the pros and cons of 3: Microneedling/CIT, Dermarollers and Nano Needling. Microneedling /Collagen Induction Therapy: This technique has been made famous under the name, Vampire Facial. It utilizes a stylus-type device with needles that “stamps” channels into the skin to stimulate collagen production. This technique is known to lift & tighten the skin, reduce wrinkles and help shrink acne scars. This expensive and invasive therapy often requires a numbing agent, down-time and sun avoidance. Dermarollers: This tool can be often found online, in makeup stores and even discount outlets. They are designed to be used at home. These devices resemble an old fashion push lawn mower with hundreds of needles covering the cylinder’s surface. In theory this could work, but in my experience they can do more harm than good! As the “wheel” goes over the surface of your skin these needles penetrate at one angle then disengage at yet another angle making a “tear” in the skin rather than a precise microchannel. This larger “wound” in the skin is also more likely to become infected. In fact these at home devices are almost impossible to completely sanitize which means you are pushing bacteria from your last session into your skin!
Nano Needling: I am most excited about this modality, also known as, Nano Infusion. This less aggressive, “no needle” alternative can deliver a visible freshening of the skin without any discomfort, bleeding, down-time or added sun sensitivities. Nano Needling enhances product absorption, delivers a gentle exfoliation, softens lines and wrinkles, helps reduce pigmentation, improves skin texture, improves appearance of acne scarring and helps to boosts collagen production. This facial is ideal for anyone who is concerned with aging skin, crow's feet, fine lines, hyperpigmentation, large pores, lip lines and acne scarring. However, it is not recommended for those currently experiencing active acne breakouts. This summer at SBaba Skincare we have paired the Nano Infusion with the Omega LED/ IPL for even greater results! The Omega LED/IPL is a dual photo-therapy device designed to treat various skin concerns. Each light having a different impact on the skin. Red light: Anti-Aging, lifts & tightens; Blue light: helps heal acne; Yellow light: reduces redness & rosacea; Green light: helps to reduce sun damage/brown spots. The IPL causes a microtrauma to the dermis to stimulate collagen and tighten the skin. This facial is 50 minutes in duration and is $150. Monthly sessions are usually needed to resolve certain concerns. Read more: https://www.ebbandflowcapecod.com/blog/2019/7/17/nano-your-way-to-fresher-skin

However, a person should be very careful while selecting the product or services available in the market. The pros and cons associated with such kinds of remedies should be taken into consideration before selecting the remedy. For more assistance, visit

It's great that you talked about how micro-needling allows you to reduce wrinkles in your skin. I remember that my wife mentioned how she was interested in tightening the skin around her eyes since they are becoming more wrinkled as she continues to age. It may be best for her to consider micro-needling to get rid of any unwanted wrinkles she may have.
